By appointment or drop-in, tutoring is a service that allows you to come in for help with your writing, math, or other academic subjects. Please be advised of the following rules:

  1. Sign-up for an appointment well in advance of your assignment due date rather than assuming a tutor will be free when you drop by the office. Be on time! All tutoring sessions lasts 30 minutes to 1 hour.

  2. If you are going to be late or miss your appointment, you must call ahead or drop-in the office to cancel or re-schedule your appointment (call the tutor or the office at ext. 232.) After 2 late shows (up to 15 minutes) or 2 missed appointments, you will lose the privilege of scheduling tutoring sessions (but you may still drop-in based on tutor availability.)

  3. If you have no appointment, you may be able to see a tutor on a drop-in basis (but we cannot guarantee that a tutor will be available to help you).

  4. Bring any assigned material, a copy of the assignment, notes, books, and anything you already have written or tried to solve. (You may also bring your laptop computer.)

  5. Expect to work! You are the one being ultimately graded for your class. The consultant is there to help YOU to understand, perform, and/or write better, not to proofread your work and make corrections or solve everything for you.

  6. Consider dropping in or making appointments on a regular basis so that you can work on all aspects of your work for different classes.

  7. You may request a certain tutor, but you might be assigned to another based on availability. Understand that all our tutors have been trained, are qualified, and equally capable.

  8. Consider working with the same tutor on a regular basis—even if only for half hour sessions so that the tutor can become familiar with your work and be even more helpful.
