All students are provided with one primary faculty advisor whose purpose is to support and challenge you in making positive career and educational decisions. During the registration for each semester, students are required to consult with their faculty advisor and to obtain their major and general education course requirements.

 

 

OASIS
(Office of Academic Success & Instructional Services)

OASIS staff are dedicated to providing an integrated and proactive academic support services to the Woodbury community.

Services (free) for students include the following:

· Academic Advising

o The OASIS Academic Advising staff are committed to supporting students and working collaboratively with faculty to assist with students’ academic advising needs and concerns. We place a very high priority on student advising and consider it an essential part of teaching. It is also has been shown to be a “cornerstone” of student retention and is one of the most critical of all services offered to students” (Habley, 1981). Professional advisors are available for general academic advising from 8am-6pm Monday-Thursday, and 8am-5pm on Fridays throughout the semester. Appointments are strongly recommended for your convenience. Please call (818) 252-5232 for more information.

· Tutoring

o Drop-in tutoring: from second week of the semester until the week before final exams. Also by appointment if desired.

o The Writing Center

· Mentoring

o Academic Peer Mentors

o Freshmen & Transfer Peer Advisors

o International Peer Advisors

· Computer lab

o Including both Macs & PCs

o Self-paced software using PLATO

· Disability Resources

o Course facilitation

OASIS HOURS & LOCATION

OASIS is open Monday through Thursday, 8:00am-8:00pm, Fridays 8:00am-5:00pm, and Saturdays 10:00am-2:00pm. It can be found on the Burbank campus, on the west side of the West parking lot (in the brick, old School of Business building).

Entertainment

Woodbury University's School of Business and Von Johnson & Associates, Inc. (VJA) will co-sponsor the fall edition of The Business of Entertainment Lecture Series on October 16. The series is free to the public and will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Fletcher Jones Foundation Auditorium on Woodbury’s main campus at 7500 Glenoaks Blvd. in Burbank. This series features timely information and discussion on issues facing the filmed entertainment industry - the region's number one employer.  Previous topics have included production financing, piracy, 3D exhibition, technology disruption, Internet distribution, VOD and international theatrical distribution.  Stay tuned for details, including guest speakers, topics, and program information!
